Acceptance of terms
By creating an account or using PayMate ("the service"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
What PayMate is
PayMate helps you scan receipts, split costs among people, and keep a record of who owes whom. PayMate is a calculation and record-keeping tool only - it does not process payments or move money between users. Any actual transfers happen outside the app.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.
Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the service, including attempting to disrupt it, access accounts or data that are not yours, or use it for any unlawful purpose. You are responsible for the content you upload and for your right to upload it.
Your content
You retain ownership of the content you upload. By uploading it, you grant PayMate a license to use it to operate, maintain, and improve the service, including developing PayMate's own systems and future products.
Accuracy of receipt data
PayMate uses automated AI to read receipts, and extraction may be incomplete or incorrect. You are responsible for reviewing items, totals, and splits before relying on them. PayMate is not responsible for disputes arising from incorrect amounts.
Service provided "as is"
The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that results will be accurate.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PayMate and its creator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any amounts owed between users, arising from your use of the service.
Termination
You may stop using PayMate and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if these Terms are violated.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date above. Continued use of the service means you accept the updated Terms.
